Improving access to health care and social services, and facilitating collaboration between teams from various institutions is what being an integrated university health and social services centre (IUHSSC) is all about.

The Montreal West Island IUHSSC serves a very diverse clientele. In order to do so, we work with more than 800 community, regional, supraregional, and federal partners such as municipalities, community organizations, the education sector, and many more. These partners are critical for improving access to care and services provided to the public.

The Montreal West Island IUHSSC includes two designated university facilities: Douglas Mental Health University Institute and St. Mary’s Hospital Center. It also includes two research facilities: Douglas Hospital Research Centre (accredited by the Fond de recherche du Québec – Santé (FRQS) and ranked second in Canada among top-performing centres in its area of expertise) and St. Mary’s Research Centre.

The Montreal West Island IUHSSC is also a member of McGill University’s Réseau Universitaire Intégré de Santé et Services Sociaux (RUISSS McGill), offering several specialized and highly specialized services within covered regions, including Outaouais, Abitibi-Témiscamingue, the Montérégie, Nord-du-Québec, Nunavik, and the Cree Territory of James Bay.

Ovarian Cancer Canada’s vision is to see women with ovarian cancer, and all women at risk of the disease, live fuller, better, longer lives. We champion the health and wellbeing of women with ovarian cancer and others at risk of this disease while advancing research to save lives.

Following years of dedicated and collective advocacy efforts by Ovarian Cancer Canada, women living with the disease, and other advocates across the country, the Government of Canada announced a first-ever commitment of $10 million to fund ovarian cancer research in 2019.

Having secured that investment of $10 million over a five-year period, Ovarian Cancer Canada is now leading a new, Pan-Canadian research initiative, called OvCan, to improve the outcomes of women diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

Parkinson Canada is a national registered charity and is accredited by Imagine Canada. Operating since 1965, the organization provides services and education to people living with Parkinson’s disease and healthcare professionals who treat them. It advocates with governments on issues that concern the Parkinson’s community, and participates in numerous coalitions and partnerships to fulfil its mission.

The Parkinson Canada National Research Program funds research for better treatments and a cure. It is a founding partner of the Canadian Open Parkinson Network.
