OTTAWA, June 27, 2022 – Research Canada: An Alliance for Health Discovery is pleased to welcome seven new Members into its Alliance dedicated to advancing health research and innovation in Canada: Canadian Celiac Association, GlaxoSmithKline, Lakehead University, New Brunswick Health Research Foundation, Serenity DTx, University of Alberta and University of Waterloo.
“We are so honoured to have such a diverse membership that spans across Canada and the health research and innovation ecosystem,” says Dr. Rose Goldstein, Chair of Research Canada and Professor of Medicine at McGill University. “Welcoming these new Members will undoubtedly further Research Canada’s advocacy efforts and strengthen our collective voice. We are delighted to have their unique perspectives captured in our Alliance,” says Deborah Gordon-El-Bihbety, President and CEO of Research Canada.
Research Canada engages all sectors – including government – to build support for health research and innovation. The addition of these new Members into the Alliance strengthens the organization’s ability to represent the interests of the health innovation ecosystem as a whole.

Research Canada advocates for the prioritization of health research and health innovation in the government to improve the health of Canadians. These new Members provide a breadth of knowledge and expertise across many stages of the research continuum.
The Canadian Celiac Association is a volunteer-based, federally registered charitable organization with its national office in Mississauga, Ontario. It was founded in December 1973 with financial assistance from the Kaufman Foundation. Today the association serves people with celiac disease, non-celiac gluten sensitivity and dermatitis herpetiformis through affiliated chapters across Canada. The Canadian Celiac Association provides a singular, reliable resource of information not only for Canadians living gluten free, but for their families and health care providers.

The New Brunswick Health Research Foundation (NBHRF) was created in July 2008 with a mandate to co-ordinate, support and promote health research in New Brunswick. The NBHRF is an independent organization governed by a board of directors comprised of key stakeholders from the health research community in New Brunswick.
