Parliamentary Welcome Kit
Welcoming Parliamentarians
Research Canada welcomes new and returning Members of Parliament after Federal Elections with a Welcome Kit to introduce them to the health research and health innovation communities and to highlight some of the excellence in health research and health innovation being carried out by Canadian health researchers and innovators in this country.
The Welcome Kit introduces Members of Parliament to the academic-, private- and voluntary-sector stakeholders in our community and shows them how we are on the threshold of significant breakthroughs in health R&D — breakthroughs that save lives, reinvent health care and help our economy to grow and prosper. We want Members of Parliament to know about our community’s successes and understand that building upon them is nation-building. We also want to tell them about the challenges we face as a community and what the new government can do so that we can get on with what we do best: building a better health care system and economy for Canadians.
The Welcome Kit encourages Members of Parliament and their staff to participate in Parliamentary Health Research Caucus events. As decision-makers, they will be contemplating new policies that will affect all of us, along with specific measures that will be included in a Federal Budget. Early efforts like the Welcome Kit will influence the new government’s approach to health R&D over the mandate of the next Parliament.
