OTTAWA, October 14, 2021 – Research Canada: An Alliance for Health Discovery is pleased to welcome twelve new Members into its Alliance dedicated to advancing health research and innovation in Canada: Arthritis Society, BD Canada, Eastern Regional Health Authority (Eastern Health), École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS), Johnson & Johnson, Memorial University’s Faculty of Medicine, Micellae Delivery Systems, Ovarian Cancer Canada, Ryerson University, Simon Fraser University, Université de Montréal’s Faculty of Medicine and VoxCell BioInnovation.
“Our influence as an organization is rooted in the sector and geographic diversity of our membership,” says Dr. Rosie Goldstein, Chair of Research Canada and Professor of Medicine at McGill University. “We are delighted to be furthering Research Canada’s advocacy efforts through the unique and diverse perspectives of these extraordinary organizations from across the country,” says Deborah Gordon-El-Bihbety, President and CEO of Research Canada.
Research Canada engages all sectors – including government – to build support for health research and innovation. The addition of these new Members into the Alliance strengthens the organization’s ability to represent the interests of the health innovation ecosystem as a whole.
“We are thrilled to be welcoming these new Members into the fold, particularly during a year that has been challenging for so many institutions,” says Lori Spadorcia, Chair of Research Canada’s Membership Development and Programs Committee and Senior Vice-President of Public Affairs and Partnerships, Chief Strategy Officer at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health. “The health of Canadians is so positively impacted by the enormous amount of research knowledge and practice that these organizations represent. Their work will undoubtedly inspire our ongoing advocacy efforts,” adds Ms. Spadorcia.
