Dr. Darryl Knight is the Vice President, Research & Academic Affairs at Providence Healthcare (PHC), the President of Providence Research and Associate Dean Research in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia (UBC) since July 2019. Prior to this, Dr. Knight was the Head of School of Biomedical Sciences and Pharmacy at the University of Newcastle (Australia) from 2013 and Canada Research Chair in airway disease at UBC from 2004-2012. His research career has focused on understanding how abnormal cell to cell interactions influence the severity and chronicity of respiratory diseases and impact on treatment. In his current role, he is centrally involved in delivering the Research component of a brand new greenfield $2.5Bn Academic health campus. Their vision is to build an ecosystem providing outstanding researchers, clinicians and innovators opportunities to collaborate and rapidly translate discoveries to better outcomes for the patients and communities they serve.
