Cheril Clarson

Dr. Clarson is Section Head of Pediatric Endocrinology at the Children’s Hospital, London Health Sciences Centre, Associate Professor at the University of Western Ontario, and an Associate Scientist at the Lawson Health Research Institute. 

Her research interests are in type 1 diabetes and obesity. She is a member of the JDRF Canadian Clinical Trial Network (CCTN) Steering Committee. Dr. Clarson is Principal Investigator on a multicentre study of Structured Transition on Diabetes Care in Adolescents with Type 1 Diabetes (Transition Trial). She is Principal Site Investigator for a JDRF Study on Continuous Glucose Monitoring (TIME Trial) and an International Cardio-Renal Intervention Trial (AdDit). Dr. Clarson is the Principal Site Investigator for the Trial to Reduce Insulin-dependent diabetes in the Genetically at Risk (TRIGR) and, for the Type 1 Diabetes Natural History Study and Pathways to Prevention (TrialNet). More recently, she has become Site Investigator for a North American study to reduce nocturnal hypoglycemia using algorithms and pump suspension called PSO4. She is also currently collaborating on an industry Phase III trial to evaluate the safety and efficacy of a long-acting insulin. 

Aside from her research, Dr. Clarson participated in the 2003 Clinical Practice Guidelines Committee and the Network of Ontario Pediatric Diabetes program. Between 2006 and 2010 she served as a Councillor, Clinical & Scientific Section, Executive Committee, Canadian Diabetes Association and as a member of the Canadian Diabetes Association National Advocacy Council. 
Dr. Clarson was also president of the Canadian Pediatric Endocrine Group (CPEG) from 2007 to 2009 and chaired the Organizing and Scientific Committee for the 2007 Scientific Meeting held in London, Ontario.
