Dr. Mary Fox’s research focuses on older adults’ functioning during illness and responds to profound social and economic changes (e.g. population aging, the movement of care into communities) currently affecting Canadian healthcare. The recipient of more than $3 million in funding (e.g. Canadian Institutes of Health Research; Ontario Ministry of Health & Long-Term Care; Ontario Ministry of Research, Innovation & Science), she has disseminated the findings of over 30 studies in more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and conference proceedings. Dr. Fox is currently leading a study on how to better support rural patients and families managing care and recovery at home after hospital discharge. The findings have the potential to inform rural transitional-care policy and practice, improve patient and system outcomes, and address rural-urban disparities in hospital-to-home transitional-care.
