Dr. Denis Roy received his medical degree from the University of Ottawa and completed his training in Internal Medicine and Nephrology at McGill University. He subsequently completed a four-year MRC research fellowship in renal physiology at McGill and Stanford Universities. Upon his return to McGill University first as assistant then associate professor (with tenure) in Medicine and Physiology, he concentrated most of his research to the function of the deep nephron. He obtained an MBA (Ottawa) and became Chief of Nephrology and Medical Director in Gatineau and subsequently Medical Director at the Royal Victoria Hospital and the McGill University Health Centre in Montreal. He became Chief Executive Director at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Montreal (CHUM) and President and Chief Executive Officer at Health Sciences North (Sudbury) where he established the Research Institute devoted to research in cancer, geriatrics and infectious diseases and Indigenous Health.
